Netherlands Vs South Africa

ICC Cricket World Cup
15th Match, October 17, 2023, Dharamsala
South Africa won the toss, and they decided to field first.

Netherlands won by 38 runs
Man of the match:- Scott Andrew Edwards

I’m sure there are plenty of fans staying up and watching the game. There are always a lot of supporters around. I am grateful for the support. Hopefully, a few messages from them We came into the tournament because we wanted to have a chance in the semi-finals, and if you want to do that, you have to beat teams, and South Africa is one of the favorites the way they are playing, so it is a good win for us. Hopefully, a few more wins will come.

Temba Bavuma :- We were clinical against Australia. We could have controlled the extras. The fielding wasn’t up to standard. It’s not the same standard we had against Australia. From 112 to 6, you shouldn’t have allowed them to go past 200. We dropped the ball there but were still confident with the chase. But they were able to extract some deficiencies in our batting. We need to have some conversations with the boys. You had to let the emotion seep in. It will hurt. Our campaign is not over by any stretch of imagination. That was a proper display from them. They put us under pressure throughout.

Sri-Lanka Vs Australia

ICC Cricket World Cup
14th Match, October 16, 2023, Lucknow
Sri-Lanka won the toss, and they decided to bat first.

Australia won by 5 wickets
Man of the match:- Adam Zampa

To be honest, I did not feel great. I have been sporting a back spasm for a couple of days, but maybe I bowled better today. I think that was the captain’s decision to bowl the offspinner to the lefties. Personally, I couldn’t bowl better in the last game, and to be honest, I feel I can do better, but it’s good to be at the better end of the result tonight. Again, I didn’t feel at my best but wanted to try and keep my wicket-taking attitude. We have a big game against Pakistan in Bangalore; that’s going to be a tough one.

Cummins:- I am happy today. It was probably that nothing was said, and it was just on the back of two losses… The energy in the field was nice to start with, and everything else flowed. Again, they started really well, but the way all the bowlers came in, hit the wicket, and did their job, it was a great effort. I can’t read these wickets. About 300 [would’ve been par] maybe. Outside noise doesn’t bother us too much. I hope so; all parts of the game came together at the end. We’re sort of underway in the tournament and hope we keep it up.

Afghanistan Vs England

ICC Cricket World Cup
13th Match, October 15, 2023, Delhi
England won the toss, and they decided to field first.

Afghanistan’s all-round performance crashed England, the 2019 champions.
Afghanistan will fancy their chances again next game in Chennai, where they will face New Zealand, on the back of this win.

Afghanistan won by 69 runs
Man of the match:- Mujeeb Ur Rahman

It was a very proud moment for Afghanistan- to be here at the World Cup and beat the champions. This is a great achievement for the whole team, and this is the kind of opportunity we have been working hard for. Wonderful performances by the bowlers and the batters. As a spinner, it is pretty hard to bowl in the powerplay. But I have been working in the nets. There is not much room for error to bowl wide, so I have tried to bowl wicket-to-wicket. We knew that Dew would play some part, and that is why I wanted to bowl in the powerplay. The ball was holding a little bit as well. Even if there was dew, I was mentally prepared. Not to give much room and bowl in the right areas.

Afghanistan captain, Hashmatullah Shahidi
I am quite happy and all my team members are happy. This was the best win. The confidence will be there for the next game and the whole Afghanistan will be happy and proud with this win. We had a good start and credit goes to Gurbaz for that. He was with us from last two years but did not get too many chances. Me and the coach believed in him and we really appreciate his effort.
