KL Rahul (Kannanur Lokesh Rahul) is an Indian international cricketer. He is a tall elegant right-handed batter and a wicketkeeper. The only player from India to record an ODI century on his debut.
He is the captain of the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL. He also plays for Karnatake at the domestic level and is currently the vice captain of the Indian Cricket Team.
Rahul is married to Bollywood actress Athiya Shetty, the daughter of Suniel Shetty.

Rahul’s father, K. N. Lokesh, is a professor in the department of civil engineering at the National Institute of Technology, Karnataka. And his mother, Rajeshwari, is a professor at Mangalore University.
Rahul grew up in Mangalore, completing his high school at NITK English Medium School and his pre-university at St. Aloysius College. He started cricket training at the age of 10 and, two years later, started playing matches for both Bangalore United Cricket Club and his club in Mangalore. At age 18, he moved to Bangalore to study at Jain University.
Cricket debut
Rahul made his first-class cricket debut for Karnataka in the 2010–11 season. In the same season, he represented India at the 2010 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
* He made his debut in the Indian Premier League in 2013 for Royal Challengers Bangalore. He made his international debut in 2014 against Australia in the Boxing Day Test match in Melbourne. Two years after his Test debut, Rahul made his one-day international debut in 2016 against Zimbabwe. Later on the same tour, he made his T20I debut. KL Rahul is the first and only Indian cricketer to score an ODI century on his debut.

IPL
Punjab Kings (2018–2021) and Lucknow Super Giants (2022–present)
* He was acquired by Kings XI Punjab for INR 11 crore, the joint-third highest price, in the 2018 IPL Auction. He broke Sunil Narine’s record in the team’s opening game of the season by scoring the fastest fifty runs in IPL history in just 14 balls.
* Rahul was kept by Kings XI Punjab for the 2019 campaign. Rahul was selected as the season’s vice captain. Against the Mumbai Indians, he hit 100 runs off of 64 balls for his first IPL century. KL scored 593 runs this season at a strike rate of 135.38 and an average of 53.90.
* Prior to the 2021 Indian Premier League, Rahul was still named captain by the Punjab Kings. He was the team’s leading scorer for the whole 2021 Indian Premier League season with 626 runs.
* Rahul left the Punjab Kings before 2022 and was selected as captain by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for INR 17 crore, making him and Virat Kohli the two highest-paid cricket players in the IPL.
* Rahul made his first century for Lucknow against Mumbai on April 16, 2022 (103* off 60). Eight days later, he scored another perfect hundred (103* off 62) against the same opponents.
* In his first season with LSG, Rahul guided his team to the playoffs, but in the end, they lost to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the elimination round. Rahul was his team’s top scorer with 616 runs at an average of 51.33 and two hundreds during the season.
For the 2023 campaign, Rahul will continue to lead the Lucknow Super Giants as captain.
